Senegal is a republic with a presidency; the president is elected every five years as of 2001, previously being seven years, by universal adult suffrage. The current president is Abdoulaye Wade, re-elected in March 2007.
Senegal has more than 80 political parties. The bicameral parliament consists of the National Assembly, which has 120 seats, and the Senate, which has 100 seats and was reinstituted in 2007.[6] An independent judiciary also exists in Senegal. The nation’s highest courts that deal with business issues are the constitutional council and the court of justice, members of which are named by the president.
Currently Senegal has a democratic political culture, being one of the more successful post-colonial democratic transitions in Africa. Local administrators are appointed by, and responsible to, the president. The marabouts, religious leaders of the various Senegalese Muslim brotherhoods, also exercise a strong political influence in the country.

The “wealth” is obviously the local water of the Senegal River … it was necessary to develop a program of irrigation. The association DIAM has been able to achieve a first draft which took place from 1994 to 1996.
Creating an area of 2 hectares and installing valves in water distribution and building a store.
A gardening area of 4 hectares has been set up in 2001 with provision of a pump.
Help N’DIGUE village.
We have devoted our efforts in 1995 on the village to enable it to regain its autonomy through u
No technical support, financial and moral, with the aim also to keep the villagers in their environment and avoid the exodus.
Construction of a school:
In 1996/97 the association has participated in the construction of 2 school classes.
The first year, September 97, we thus have 1 teacher, in seconds 99 a teacher and in 2003 a third teacher.
Some neighboring villages send their children to this school.
In 2001, we built a wall to limit the school yard and to create a garden that can allow students to market gardening to be able to purchase books, school notebooks, etc. ..
Construction of a clinic:
With the active help of Lion’s Club and Brignoles du Haut Var, we completed the construction of a “health case”.
Care is provided by two villagers who had received the necessary training and regular visits to the nurse.
School supplies:
Since the opening of school, we also supply, they shall not, as in France, supported by the state.
Pharmacy supplies:

This dam helps to irrigate sugar cane plantations along the Senegal River, Podor up and qu’autour Lake Guiers.
The work of DIAM is an anti-salt dam whose primary function is to prevent the intrusion of the language in the river, making the salt of the delta land suitable for agriculture.
